I agree 100 percent with ya, Bamfie! I think a monstrous Kurt will not really add anything to his character and will drive away kids who have fallen for Nightkiddo. I'm not saying he should be a blue Keanu Reeves, but an attractive guy he should be. He'd be hated for the differences he has anyway. And 'sides, if they made him Mystique's and Sabretooth's *shudder* son, he wouldn't be really ugly. Mystique was a beautiful woman and Sabretooth wasn't that bad. The genes would pass down. I really thought the scales on Mystique were a gimmick to show her shapeshifting power. If you watch really close, those things ripple when she shifts. It's like they are flipping over or something. Sooo...If they are a part of her power, Kurt wouldn't have them because his powers are different.

Speaking as one who got sucked in by the Evolution Kurt, I must agree with the "good looking Nightcrawler" contigent.
I envision some shots in the movie of Nightcrawler in the darkness. Glowing eyes. Fluid movements. A creature that sticks to the darkest shadows and glides along walls and ceilings. Initially quite frightening.
Then, as the movie progresses, the viewers are introduced to good looking guy with a swashbuckling attitude and a fairly positive outlook on life. We get drawn toward this character who is being unfairly persecuted. A man who is just as human as the rest of us. Someone who, without some of his mutations, could live a very normal life, and is denied that.
Oh, we can still dream, can't we?

I have to go with the semi-attractive Kurt supporters on this. I think people would be freaked out by his appearance (blue fur, tail, feet, hands, fangs) regardless of who is wearing the costume. They can show Kurt lurking in the shadows and make him very mysterious and creepy. However, at some point, they are going to try to win the audience over with Kurt's charm and personality. It would be much easier for movie-goers to gravitate to a NC who doesn't look SO demonic or naturally scarey. Am I making any sense?
Hmmm, maybe I'm just trying to justify why they should have a cute Kurt! Oh well, at least I'm not alone!
